Yes, you can be a brilliant mum and great at your job

You’ve become a semi-pro at this parenting thing, but now you’re trying to juggle being World’s Best Mum with a job you love. So, how do you bring your A-game to both?

We catch up with Bloomsbury Mill Favourite, Model, Mum of two and content creator Danubia Sousa to hear exactly how she does it.

Q: Tell us a little more about yourself and how you started your Modelling career

Thanks for letting me tell you all about myself and how I juggle it all. First, I'm a busy and proud mama of two girls; Mia 3 yrs old and Bella 9 weeks old. I’m a model and content creator based in London and passionate about creating authentic and realistic moments of everyday life. Mum life comes first, then my professional passion follows.

My modelling career started back in my childhood home in Brazil, participating in smaller model competitions and progressing to Elite models contests; the Elite contests were high profile, and this is where I got scouted. I started professional modelling in my state in Brazil, then at age 18, I came to London to try to give a better life to my family back home in Brazil. Early days were not easy, learning a new culture, language and building connections. I worked as a nanny for 3 years then left to pursue my modelling career full time - I’m so glad I did.

Now 20 years later, I'm very proud of my modelling career which let me travel to 47 countries. I'm not only Brazilian, but now also a proud British woman. My biggest achievement is the family and friends I have here, and the support I can provide to my family.

Q: What’s your biggest career achievement?

Doing London Fashion Week , acting in movies and premieres with Sasha Baron Cohen.

Q: Have your career goals changed since becoming a parent?

No - they’ve Just got bigger and stronger; children are an amazing driving force for motivation, but being a parent has definitely changed the type of work I prioritise.

Q: Let’s talk about work-life balance with children, how do you manage yours, and what’s most important?

It’s everything having a balance, that's why I batch content, which means it's a lot of planning and creating all in 3 days per week so that I can relax and enjoy family time which for me comes first, especially weekends when we catch up with family and my partner doesn't work.

Q: What are the biggest challenges of juggling work and home life?

Focus - when you’re in a creative moment and being productive, the moment of calm doesn't always last as long as you would like.  When your baby wants you, they cannot wait. Learning how to work in small bursts has helped me manage work and motherhood at the same time

Q: What advice do you have for any Mums juggling a career and children?

Listen to your body, look after yourself and put yourself first when you can. Try to rest as much as you can, if you are happy and rested, the children will be too.  Also to know your value - it’s better to do fewer, more impactful jobs then work yourself crazy. Time and energy with a young family is a gift that you can never get back.

Q: What do you enjoy most about being a Mum,

Genuinely everything, unconditional love and cuddles has to be my favourites. My partner isn’t bad either.

Q: Tell us about your baby ‘Must haves”?

Large muslins are essential! We have a wardrobe of them and use them for everything from bathtime to light shades. We also love our baby bouncer and Bloomsbury Mill organic cotton baby blankets.

Q: If you had to pick one baby product that you couldn’t be without, what would it be?

Definitely our super large Muslin swaddles from Bloomsbury Mill
